Autometer EGT gauge install ???

Iam not sure about useing the fiber washer and hose clamp on the downpipe I have never used an egt gauge before just want to do the most secure job I can I was thinking about welding the bung to the downpipe I need some advice first THANK YOU.

Weld the bung 6" from the flange of the d.p.
