I recently purchased an 87 GN and I am running through all the procedures Turbo Buick site for setting the TPS and IAC, etc. along with the spring cleaning guide.

I have an older AutoXray XP240 scanner that I am using an it seems to be working fine reading the ECM and all the sensors, etc. I have been chasing a high idle condition, around 950 rpms, checking for vacuum leak, IAC motor, minimum TB settings etc. The other day I unhooked the AutoXray and the rpms settled down probably to the 800 to 850 rpm (best I could tell with the stock tach) where I think it should be.

Is the Autoxray putting the computer into some sort of different mode that is causing the high idle and somewhat slugish performance (maybe pulling back timing)?

Thanks,
Greg

Never had that problem

Greg,
I've got the same model auto x-ray and I have never had that problem. Maybe it has something to do with the chip you are running? Is it a stock chip or aftermarket? Maybe it has something to do with the open or closed loop system? You could also try calling auto x-ray. The tech line is pretty good at knowing about weird stuff like this. There should be a number on the back of the unit. -Gabe
