Well, after about 5 years of running my car at the track, one of my stock axles snapped. Luckily this happened at the line instead of anywhere else on the track! Seems like it started making noise before this happened, anybody else ever run into this? It was a high pitch noise when I would brake torque the car. The noise was also setting off my knock sensor.

I need help on a combo for my rearend. I'd like to keep it cheap for now (just put about $2K into the car in the last 3 months). My car has run the best of 11.4 with a 1.5 60'. I plan on at least high 10's in the near future and maybe a trans break. Could I just get by with some Moser or Strange axles for now? This would leave the stock carrier and all. Is the stock carrier and it's 28 spline a week point running high 10's? I want to stay away from eliminaters right now b/c the car is driven on the street alot.

BTW, anyone have a stock axle for cheap? I need one so I can at least make my car mobile to pull in and out of my garage.

Thanks

you could upgrade to a 30 spline carrier and axles, and have Ford 9" housing ends with a Chevy bolt pattern welded onto your housing so you could use Ford bearings and an older Chevy pattern backing plate with your stock brake drums and custom axles.
might cost a bit of $$$, but if you are running that fast, it's money well spent on safety and peace of mind- plus the Ford bearing setup won't cause the problems that c clip eliminators cause in street applications.

I had the Ford ends welded on my housing and went with the big Ford drum brakes. 33 spline axels and spool......has been bullet proof so far...

I don't know if this is cheap or not, but I had an Auburn Pro diff, Moser 30 splines, aluminum girdle and Richmond 3.42 gears installed for $775 parts and labor. Has worked well so far!
