My 275/60 BFG drag radials are needing replacement and leaning towards the Nittos, anyone have a pic of them mounted on the car? Running an 8" Centerline Rev with 4" rear spacing. I know the M/T's are stickier but haven't been to the track in 12 years, just want something that will last a bit longer on the street. And something that will not have me going sideways at 70 mph when I get caught in a surprise rain storm.

The Mickey's last longer than the BFG's. Last fall I installed a TC and tuned a low 11, high 10 sec car. He just installed BFG DR's before he brought it to me. I had about 10 WOT blasts getting the boost up and adjusting fueling. After I called him to tell him it was ready and running great, I looked at the tires, and they were well into the wear bars. They are a weird almost "foam" like rubber where the MT's are stickier and more dense. The MT's do suck in the rain though.

Here's some pics of my 275/60/15's. The frame on this car has been clearanced, slightly with a hammer and dolly I think.

The nittos are smaller than bfgs or mts. If you fit a bfg the nitto will fit no problem

I've heard good things about the TOYO proxes TQ DR....check them out too Mark

Hi Mark,

I'm in the same situation as you, M/T are shot, and I never get to the track anymore, I was doing 40 mph on the highway and almost totaled my car with the M/T's... Nitto's make more common sense, but there's always that thought, what if I do get to the track... good luck !

Chuck

Didn't see any 275/60 15's listed for Toyo?

You're right sorry, I've been looking at DR's for my car and I have 16 inch wheels...

I ended up with the MT Dr 255/60's since my car is a sunshine only car lol...btw you have a PM

I like the 555's better then the mt's on the street. They hook better on my car.

How long have you had them on the car?? I have the M/T's and love them. I don't have the problems most people complain about such as driving in the rain. I actually prefer mine in the rain as they stick great even on the highway but I'm sure if I hit a puddle or deep enough standing water they would make my drawers brown.

I'm looking for a tire that hooks like the M/T but gets more than 3,000 miles out of a set. If I could double the mileage and get the hook of the M/T's I could cut my yearly tire bill in half.

Does the 555 come close to what I'm looking for in a tire?? Please give an honest assessment because I know you make more power than me and I hate to change from the mickey's if the nittos aren't close in performance with double the mileage.

Haven't had my nittos long enough to give a true review but they are way better on wet roads than my MTs were!
I had a couple "brown shorts moments" I live on the wet coast Vancouver Island so rain is a regular occurrence, I drive my car quite a bit and it can be clear blue skys and its still raining we call it liquid sun shine.

Unfortunately I don't drive a lot on street. I maybe have 400 miles on those. All I know is the MT's
would light up real easy. The 555's I can barely get to spin on the street.

Now that I can live with!!!

If the mileage on them is better than I would be all over a set of 555's.

I'd love to get at least 5/6000 miles out of a set of tires.

I don't beat the crap out of my tires on the street or at the track either.

I do drive on the street a lot more than the track, do you think that the nittos would be worse in that situation.

Can you get traction through first and second gear under hard acceleration ??

I have no problems at the track and think just about any DR will do well there.

Yes I can get good traction through first and second with them.

See now I haven't had the same luck, in my experience from a Traction stand point (not longevity), the nittos were the worst, in order I would put the mt drag radials 1st, my current Toyo proxes TQ 2nd, and the nittos last in hooking up. imo...

That's what I've heard, and hence the apprehension to move away from the Mickeys.

I may try the M@H racemasters DR some day but haven't seen any feedback on our cars using them.

If I can't have it all I'll stay with the M/T's as I know I get traction with them and will just have to live with the crappy mileage I get with them.
