I have the stock t-type wheels with 245/60/15's on them and I measured from the frame to the tire and it is right at about 1" and from the inside of the lip on the fender to tire is also about 1 inch. I have black out trim on the car.
I am wanting to put 15x8 draglites on the car with 275/60/15 nittos. Everyone says go with 3.5" backspacing but that would put the tires about 1/2inch into the fender. Stock backspacing is 4", if i'm correct, so if I got 4.5" backspacing then I should still have 1/2" to the frame and to the fender lip on an 8" rim. I know the tire will be wider but with the 275 on an 8" rim it should stick out the same proportionally as the 245 on the 7" rim, shouldn't it?
This is probably very confusing...I have been thinking on this for the past 2 days.
Anybody else have an opinion? I'd like to hear it.
Thanks, James.
