Hi

Well I grew a set and decided to change the rear main seal. The bearing in the cap is kinds scored, I can feel it with my finger but it is not a huge grand-canyon like score. the crank looks ok but there is a "discolored" spot but I can't feel anything

So a friend told me I can replace this while in the car but I am kinda concerned about the milage on the car and that a new bearing might make things worse.

So, should I leave it? Or get a new one.

No money for a rebuild right now so that is out of the question

Car has 87,000 miles and oil psi is 10 @ 190 deg. at idle.

As a side question, on another post I am having trouble getting the "top" of the rear main seal out, 2 people have told me that I should loosen all the mains and the redo the seal and re-torque all mains.......opinions???

.

You will have to loosen all the mains to let the crank ease down a little to get the upper seal out.
