In order to arrive fresh for the big Buick off last Sat. I left & stayed overnight at picturesque Bakersfield. So I could finally see the TT car of Bob's make a decent pass. Arrived at 9.00 Sun. AM at the gates only to be told that the race was cancelled. So I drove 400 miles & blew about a 150.00 bucks on a wild goose chase. Not only that I chewed Bob's ass cause Nordy wasn't available & conveniently could not be reached. Bob said I was overreacting & called me Boo Hoo Lou. I really felt a need to tear some one a brand new a-hole. No one thought to inform me of the cancellation. So now I hope it gets rained out as atonement for my inconvenience & suffering. Sincerely overpriced grouchy Boo Hoo Lou
9.PM yeah that sure was a great heads up, I already in Bakersfield by that time. All I 'm warning people about is to make sureBoo Hoo Lou.. look at the time i posted "do not go".. it was at 9pm![]()

Sorry after that Bakersfield fiasco I seemed to have temporarily lost my sense of humour. My last four trips to the track mainly to help & support others using up my time & money have been a disaster for stupid reasons.I guess when ever you expect someone to have the same perspective & values your setting yourself up for a bad day. It takes hard work to put these cars together & I expect results. When that doesn't happen I get menopausal. The two pictures are only expressing a mood not meant for you turn it into a sexual Innuendo, maybe I should clarify things with my question about which picture depicted your mood at the time that's all.![]()
Thanks a lot! Look forward to working with you again. Like your Camaro by the way.I still don't get it...
I dunno why every one thinks Lou is so mean and grouchy.
Why last Friday morning at about 7:30AM I called what I thought was his shop phone to leave a message letting him know I was going to leave my header there behind the dumpster outside his shop when he actually answered.
"Yikes!" I thought...and almost hung up.
Since I've heard all these horrific stories about his people skills, I was ready to finally receive a verbal butt munching for calling him so friggin' early and waking him up.
Not even a blip....
Not a single discouraging word.
He actually thanked me for waking him up and after we talked, he told me to have a nice day.
When I picked up the header later and disrupted his work flow on the engine he was building, he quietly helped me out, gave me a smile, shook my hand and told me to have fun.
So I'll continue to say...
What a great guy Lou is...

Before these Buicks came along I was into big blocks, Built a couple of Novas & a bunch of Chevelles & vette's through the years. Recently did a 502 install into a 69 camaro SS rally sport. It too has a traction problem. My automotive career started in 1962 & have to laugh at many of the so called collector cars & the prices they bring. I remember working on them when they were new. The venerable Hemi plymouths & dodges were no match for a good running chevy on the streets.I just don't get all the hype now about those Chrysler products & the fords for their time weren't any better. My opinion is that there will never be a car quite like the Grand National. It has made its place in automotive history. I 'm glad I was here to witness & enjoy it.Thanks for noticing the Camaro, Lou. I get's driven every Friday unless it's raining and gets to come out on weekends to play too. I've done the whole build myself so far, but now it's body and paint time so I'll farm that out.
It suffers from traction issues....1st gear is dang near useless if I pop the clutch at any RPM, so I'd like to minitub it and stuff a triangulated 4-link under the rear, but all that's on the back burner until I get the GN where I want it. The Camaro is a blast to drive, and I love the sound that big block makes when I go peddle down....but I'm scared one of these mean guys with a Turbo Buick on steroids is going to find me some day and make it look slow.![]()
Rafeal was trying to sneak up on me the other day so he could pick on it with that 10 second Stage II. Lucily I got it parked at the hardware store before he got me.![]()
If I can solve the traction issues, it's an easy low 11 car, but I've seen guys take the same set-up into the 10's with proper suspension tuning, an automatic and good 60 foot times. I won't get it there since I'm sporting a manual 5 speed andI'm after more of a pro-touring build so the set-up will never by right for hooking off the line.
I'll be back to your shop soon for the GN's timing gear swap. I'm thinking it's just not a job I want to tackle on my own. I have a home school mechanics knack for making jobs like that more complicated than they really are.....and twice as expensive than they should be...and I'm still learning about this GN so...outsource is the plan for the timing gears swap.
