Balance factor?

It´s time to balance the motor. But what are the balance factors?

Hi bkoons!

Just curios.... what's the difference in balancing an engine with or without solid mounts?

I have a book here where they have tested both 36.6% and 50% and never noticed any approvement or smoother engine?
The recomendation from the book was to have 36.6%.

I'm no balancing expert, so I'm not sure why they would recommend different factors based on motor mounts. My guess would be that the damping effect of rubber mounts actually releaves some of the reciprocating loads from the rotating assembly. But who uses solid mounts on motors with knock sensors anyway... I think 36.6% is the factor you want to use.
