The one that confuses me the most: dear = expensive.

Bonnet is the engine cover.

Boot is the trunk - whether it's in the front or back .
 
perished= worn out

as in "change those bushings, they're perished"

Also "hood" means convertible soft top
 
Why do old women over there have blue hair?? Why do they drink so much tea? What's wrong with coffee?
