hey guys, I had custom headers done on the car and when I build 18 psi or more the flywheel grinds into the crosover even though there was an inch clearance. So I ws thinking the crossover pipe was flexing from the airflow but then my friend chuck suggested that it might be the converter ballooning. I disconnected the flywheel and noticed that the top of the flyweel (the half thats in the trans housing) has 1/4 clearance between the converter mount and the flywheel, but the bottom of the flywheel is so tight agaisnt the convetrer mount that it binds.. I actually have to flex it out a tad with my hand to spin the converter. The converter has no play back and forth. So what ya think>?> Flywheel bent ? did it bend from hitting the crossover? I dont want to rotate motor with starter because I am afraid of the flywheel binding up agaisnt the converter and making it worse. I want to bring car to Chris but it has no exhaust yet.

thanks!
Ralph

Yikes!

Are you absolutely sure that the transmission bellhousing is pulled up flush against the engine block? It's possible to pinch the TV cable or the wiring harness between the two which could cause the converter to run crooked relative to the flexplate.

If that's not the problem, make sure that the case isn't broken.

Case is TIGHT against block. The flywheel is perfectly flush with the crank where it sits after being mounted.

thanks,
Ralph
