Up until this point my GN is under my normal policy with our Firebirds. I inquired about collector car insurance and they wanted $2xx something a year. But they want to put limitations on how far and where I can drive it. Is this typical? They asked a LOT of questions about modifiactions and they won't let me occasionally drive it to work, etc. I asked about coverage if something happens at an event like the nationals and they said they can't help because that is competetive driving. I need some suggestions and recommendations on this. It only sees less than 1k a year and I know they will total it if something bad happens. Thanks for any input.:)

Put a classic palte on it and your current insurance company should give you a huge break on insurance. I'm with Erie and my car is in "layup" three months of the year (winter time here in PA). It has a stated value of $10000. They sent an appraiser out to look at it and that's the number he put on it.

puttin classic tags on it makes no difference with the insurance co.
If you go with an insurance co that specifically insures classic and collectable automobiles, your doing the best thing.
Heres the one I am insured with. They even have an online cost estimator to see what you are gonna be paying.. I pay $245 a year with $15K value. NO mileage restriction either.
