Best stock replacement turbo?

What is out there now days for a pretty stock TR? There are so many turbos now I dont know what to recommend to my friend. What is comparable to the TA49 now? Need to stay in the $800 range (cost of a new TA49).

It is tough to beat the 49 for a stock replacement turbo. It is also stock appearing. If you want to maintain the stock appearing.... and want more turbo than the 49 ..... go for the TA60.... it probably likes a 3000 or so converter.......

Thats what I figured. I went 11.30's with the ta60 through my stock gn intercooler but I dont think he wants to go that fast. I think he'd like the spoolup of the ta49 better.

Russ, who makes that turbo? PTE or LE?

You can't beat the TA49 for a stock replacement Turbo & with a RJC Boost controler the spool up is instant. A proven mid to high 11 Turbo also.

Don't forget TinMan has dipped into the 10's with a 49...... that is one bad @ss little turbo....This is obviously not the rule.... but it is possible.....

PTE makes them. I get them through Hartline Performance. It's a great little turbo. I won't use the 49 anymore now that these are available.
