What pieces are included in the optional trim black-out? I have an '83 that appears to have the pkg, (http://www.geocities.com/bakerlaw67/regal) but on many of the pieces, the black is significantly gone, and on others, it appears to be completely gone.

Parts with traces of black include
Headlight bezels
Taillights
Windshield surround
Backlight surround
Trunk edge mldg

Parts with NO blackout:
Door edge guards
Wheel arches
Quarter window surrounds
Door trim
Door handles
Side marker light trim

If anybody has pictures of a stock '83, I would appreciate it if they could forward it. I am going to have it repainted back to stock, and it would be much easier for the shop to look at a picture than a list.

Also, has anybody found a paint that sticks better than the crap that GM used? I would prefer to use the original trim, as it is in excellent shape. Does anybody have any blackout parts for sale? Is there any special prep work (self-etching primer, etc)? I'm also thinking about leaving parts that are supposed to be chrome off. Any comments?

Nice rare car. I can't help you with the trim but I'd want to keep it as original as possible. Seems the hot-air cars hold their value better if un-customized.

Good Luck, Jim

On my 87 Limited, it has the blackout package aswell. On mine everything is black with the exception of the bumpers and a small trim piece on the front turn signals. hope that helps, Mike

T-Type Mike is exactly right. If you have the black out package all trim should be blacked out with the exception of the bumpers and the corner lights. There is one exception to this. The WE4 T-Type is all black including the bumpers and corner lights. Basically a GN with a single color interior and T-Type badges.
