I just got my turbine housings back from being coated...they sure do look nice. :) I had to spend some quality time sanding the coating off of the inside surfaces of the housings, but I hope this helps keep some heat in them as well as looking good.

These are 60-1s that John Craig went through. John, if you are reading this forum now, thanks!

Edit: I guess it'd help if I actually posted the picture links...

doh--shi-ny
bling!

Got pics? Come on you must be slacking if you don't have pics!:D ;)

Thanks Kendall!!! Those look almost to nice to put on......

I can't wait to see how your race car turns out when it's done cause there is so much attention to detail in everything you do! :)

JetHot?

What temp is the coating good to?

Approx how much $ to do?

They were done by a local place (J&D Coatings, Callahan, FL). The shiny stuff is nominally good to 1300 degrees or so. It seems to hold up pretty well on turbine housings in my experience, perhaps because of their thickness and thermal mass. Cost is approx. $60/housing.

Wow, that's a lot cheaper than I thought.

How about the center sections... do you do anything for them?

Looks good... for now. I want to get mine done with some 1800 degree stuff. Doesn't look as pretty as that, kinda looks like aluminum.

Wow, I paid $85 for mine to be done from Jet Hot. And paid
$185 for the Atr headers. That sounds like a screaming deal
Kendall:eek:

Let us know how the shiny stuff holds up. Jet Hot will no longer do turbine housings or turbo headers with the shiny stuff (or they wont warranty it).
Their stuff is Jet Hot 2000 which is a textured finished. I have had it up around 1700° and no problems, but I admit the shiny stuff would look better.

They may fade...I kind of expect it. If so, oh well...I am trying to keep a little bit of heat in and keep the rust away.
