Hey I have some questions about Blowoff Valves. I am going to be purchasing the TM V2 IC & intake kit early next year. I know the original hotair cars did not come with a blowoff valve as it did not need one since the TB was attached to the turbo. But With the TM kit, is a blowoff Valve needed? Do the 86/7's come with blowoff Valves? I Have seen some pics where they have been added in, but is it needed when the TB is moved onto the intake? Any info would help, thanks guys.

The intercooled cars, did not come with blowoff valves. As far as I know, you dont need a blowoff valve with the TM IC kit. I know that I might be wrong, but as far as I know, they do not need a blow off valve. The guys with the TM IC will give you a better answer and maybee some info about blowoff valves, but there my two cents.

BTW, is this Todd ????

Blowoff Valves

Thanks for the info Marc. And yes Its Todd! Anyone else have any suggestions please let me know, thans

A Blow-off valve would be nice......if you drive your car like me.

But in all honesty autos really don't need a BOV, the boost stays consistant between all gears. Lift off the thorottle easy @ the end of your runs and your turbo will live for a long time.

You are right that when you move the TB after the turbo it will make the same sound as the 87s when you lift. I'm currently looking for one because I drive pretty hard all the time and I have a huge intercooler with plastic end tanks and a lot of 3" plumbing to fill with air. It's not needed but if you have the money it wouldn't hurt anything.

they just make a cute noise after you let off the throttle. I really dont think, generally, Turbo'd Automatic cars need a blowoff valve. Since there isnt much of a gap in between shifts for the BOV to go off. But I admit...they sound pretty nutz!!!

TODD!!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MAN???
ITS NICK!! im me on ICQ!3544450

or on aol nbbxtreme

throw out an email man i havent talked to you in forever.

I Heard that not having a blowoff valve on these cars shorten the lives of the turbo's. I had a friend with an 85 GN hotair from factory, but had the 86/7 setup and turbo, but no intercooler. (Go figure) And he went through 4 turbo's in about 30,000 miles. I have low clicks on my car, and I barely ever push er hard, unless i have to show off to the mustangs, lol. But I just don't wanna blow my new turbo up! What do you guys think?

I wouldn't worry about it. Your friend just had bad luck or didn't replace the oil feed line with each new turbo.

YEs it does

Not having a blow of valve can cause compressor surge if there is enough space in between the turbo and the throttle plate when it closes it cause the pressure to suge back at the turbo. You better believe im getting a blow-off valve once i go i/c'd.

Good thinking i never thought of a blow off valve for these cars, what kind could you put on it and were would it go.

Crazygn, a BOV won't do anything for you even with the intercooler unless you've moved the TB after the turbo.

Yea iam going to work on a v2 set up soon but iam still going to wait on a bov , i need some other things before that.
