Does anybody run an electronic boost controller? How about the mechanical controler knob that mounts under the dash? I don't like the idea of poping my hood and guessing where to set the boost at.

how exactly does it work? what range of psi can it be adjusted to? I would like one that can go up to at least 30 psi.

Innovative?

Heath Elmer uses one from Innovative Turbo Systems (ariticle in GM High Tech Performance, called "G-Whiz". Don't know anythinga about it, but Heath likes it. Any others want to comment on Innovative?G-Whiz

I'm using the bstc from ramchargers and like it alot. Using the 1 factory soleniod it gives you about 7 psi adjustment from where you set your wastegate rod from. But if you use 2 factory soleniods like I do, you can get about 15 psi adjustment. It's great because you are able to adjust boost on the fly. No more need to pop the hood and burn your hands trying to get the boost just right.

so if you set your rod for 15psi, then you can adjust with the ramchargers unit anywhere from 8psi to 22 psi?

Inovative Boost Controller

I have the Inovative Bst. Cntrl. and really like it. It uses electronic Solanoids (2x). You just punch in how much boost you want. It's a little pricey ($500) and you need a good W/G. It has a launch mode so you can launch with less boost. It also has different stages so you could run diff. boost for diff. gears (just have to figure out how to change a 12v signal i.e. a switch on your shifter).

If you set your spring to 15lbs. with two solenoids and a BSTC you will get about 25-26lbs. max.

Just my experiences with one.

It is a bleeder device using the stock solenoids so it only raises the level of boost.

No bleeding gives you spring pressure.

No, what you set the rod for is your base boost. You can't go below that.
Even with a stock actuator, you can't go below the base spring's setting for boost (no matter what controls you choose to use).
So the boost will be 6-10 psi (average) above that (depending on the number of solenoids used).
