Boost Gauge misreading

I have a vdo 30-0-25 Boost gauge, at about 3 in hg I can hear the turbo starting to whine.... My vac system is tight, every vac line has been replaced and zip tied off (about 6 weeks ago). Hoses are good, clamps are sinched, Airfilter is alright. I cannot see/hear evidence of the DS header leak. The car is reading 19 hg in at idle, that's really high ism't it...Could the boost gauge be bad? It's only like 2 months old... Anyone have this problem before... any suggestions????:biggrin:

You'll hear the turbo whistling before you even start to get in boost. The wheel is spinning all the time, not just under boost.

Sounds like the gauge is good, and running 19 hg at idle i wouldnt consider that too high, about where you should be.

I love the whistle. :biggrin: There's that sweet spot just before you get to 0 that's music to my ears.
