Hey folks, got a few questions. I didn't see anything specific in a forum search, but if there is a FAQ on this, point me in that direction.

As a "rule of thumb" what is the safe boost limit for an intercooled engine before water / alcohol injection is needed?

Also, if one runs E85 fuel, how much additional boost can be utilized before needing water or alky injection?

If your fuel system is capable of delivering enough fuel to keep the mixture safe at full power, is there any advantage to using water/ alky mix instead of just plain water?

This is what I am putting together. Engine specs:
Comp 258HR roller cam.
Ported heads and intake / exhaust manifolds.
Turbonetics GTK450 turbo.
3" downpipe.
Forged pistons.
Head studs.
Adjustable FPR.
The ECM will be a custom tune.

Engine has not run yet. I'm not new to turbo EFI tuning, have tuned 2 successfully. Will be real-time tuning and using datalogger to monitor A/F, knock, and boost.

This car will have a 4T65E-HD transmission that should hold up for a few days anyway! :)

ROUGHLY speaking, if I tune this thing right, how much HP should it make? The turbo is good to 475 HP according to manufacturer. I know that the need for water injection will be evident by knock indication on the knock meter and datalogs. Based on your experience when might this point be reached?

My other turbo car has a 60°V6 and a 440T4 transmission. The transmission is at its limit at 13 PSI so I have not had a need to experiment with water / alcohol injection on it. That small motor at 13 PSI will put the Fear of God into a man. I can hardly wait to get this big motor running. It should be like lighting a rocket!

Thanks in advance!
David
