Ok i didn't think i was boosting right when i adjusted my wastegate. I measured mine and it is 5 1/4 inches long and only boosting 9-10 lb's at wide open throttle. My friend measured his and it is 5 1/8 inches and he is boosting 20lb's at wide open throttle. Can anyone help me?

Read your own signature:

"bypassed wastegate solenoid"

There is 4 psi right there if you do this and remove the orifice. What did you think you were gaining by bypassing the wastegate solenoid?

it needed a new boost soleniod. The module on the left side vavle cover. It kept shutting off the boost at 15psi so we by passed it.

It "shuts off the boost at 15 psi" only if you have the stock wastegate rod length. shorten it and it will "shut off" the boost at progressively higher levels. The boost shutting off at 15 psi is better than it shutting off at 9-10 psi without it, isn't it?

i am talking about the electronic module on the left valve cover. The boost use to run through it with vacum lines. It would shut off the boost when it got past 15 because we had a new chip that was meant for 16 or 17. what should i do?

Shorten the rod length with it hooked up again. One full 360 degree turn of the rod should be about 1 psi change.

What did you put on the end of the hose where the solenoid used to be? If you just plugged it you will have low boost cause all of the pressure goes to the wastegate actuator causing your wastegate to be wide open. More air you bleed off the line from the actuator the higher the boost level will be. That's how the solenoid and/or bleeder valve works.

You only "THINK" the boost solenoid "shuts off boost". In reality, it allows boost to go higher than it is set for. What do you think the chip uses to make boost go to 16-17 psi? If you haven't figured it out by now, its the boost solenoid.

Hook it back up with a proper "Y" hose and your boost problem will be solved. If you don't get 16-17 psi out of a chip that is supposed to give 16-17 psi, maybe something else, like knock or backpressure is preventing it. If you had 15 psi before and 9-10, now, your boost solenoid wasn't the problem.

Hmmm hooked it back up i was overboosting and getting 13.8 degrees of retard i have never gotten 13.8. What i had it bypassed the most i ever got was 3 or 4 degrees. So i cam going to order a new solenoid tommorow to see if it fixes the problem. If it doesn't. I am out of ideas.

i am pretty sure it is my boost solenoid gone bad boosting too much tooo fast

Its not the boost solenoid. Your boost solenoid seems to be working fine. A new boost solenoid will do exacly what that one is doing. Save your money.

Check one thing: the orifice size in the "Y" hose "Y". It should be .050" If it is smaller than this (some GM replacement "Y" hoses have an orifice that measures .027") the call can overboost to around 18 psi. If you still have the factory original "Y" somewhere, use that one with new hoses. The older the "Y" is the greater chance it is the proper size.

If you have the proper orifice size and you still get too much boost, lengthen the wastegate rod.

ahhhhh problem fixed. B4 i put new solenoid on i was getting 13 degrees of retard!!! Not good So i put tourque strap on and new boost solenoid boostin 11lb's both times. Old one i got 13 degrees of knock. New one i got 5.6 degrees max. I am fixing to put on my power plate and that should help it more. My fuel pressure is 39 does that sound right?
