From a stop when I lay on the gas the boost goes to about 10 or 11 psi then jumps to about 13psi then back down to 10. When the car was working fine the boost was at 14psi. Could this be a problem with the Wastegate Solenoid? If it is the problem the only replacement one I can find is for an 86/87 will this work for my 85? What other problems might be causing this to happen? Thanks

please help

Does anyone know what causes this? Could it be the wastegate? I want to have the car running smooth before it goes away for the winter.

Do a search on this site for this information and I know there is a couple threads on how to set up the 87 waste gate on the 85 /84 set up. You just have to blank off one of the tubes, but I would need to verify which one. You getting boost creep, check the bolt in the back of the turbo make sure it's secure and check for vacuum leaks, it seems your loosing boost and can not maintain which means it's bleeding off. Check and make sure none of your lines have developed a hole or maybe are burnt through. Just a thought. Let us know if you find the issue. Not generally a waste gate issue per say. Check for leaks first. I will try to locate the article on hooking up the 87 type on the hot airs for you.

Take care
