Boost problems. Car will only boost to 12psi even with the hose to the boost solenoid disconnected.
Checked the compressor wheel and it is not hitting and has no play.
I have not checked the IC yet.
Built car to 5psi and son-in-law stood to the side with hood open and could hear no air escaping sounds.
No exhaust leak sounds. I do not run a cat.
Car runs good, no misses.
My problem started out going to 19psi and then boost would go to 0. I replaced a suspect hose and now only get the 12psi.

I assume this is mechanical since I only got 12psi with the boost solenoid hose disconnected?

Could this be an exhaust wheel problem? Sticking puck? or do y'all thing it is a IC leak that will only let me get to 12psi?

TIA

Are you sure you have the boost contol lines and "y" connector hooked up right? If you only disconnected the vac line from the solenoid, then it sounds like the "y" could be installed backward.

If so, then I'd suggest you disconnect the vac line from the actuator and GENTLY take it for a blast. Keep a close eye on the boost because you certainly will have NO boost control without the actuator. This will rule out boost control mechanisms vs other.

The Y connector is correct.
Everything was working until I put the CAS IC on.
I will try as you say as this will eliminate a bad Y connector.
I have checked the exhaust wheel and it and the puck are in good shape.

Thanks

Does the boost build normally or is it slow to build? If slow, your puck may be stuck open. Make sure it's closed.

John, boost seems to be slower that normal. I pulled the elbow and it looked to be sealing and was not sticking.

im still new, but could it be a bearing in the turbo or something?

*shuts up*

Regarding your "air leak test". It's possible that he could not hear the leak with all the other noise, and also possible that something doesn't "leak" until 12 psi. Be certain the IC hoses are all good. Just a thought. I've read stranger stories about IC hoses leaking in this manner.
