Got the GN out today in this beautiful Wisconsin weather.

Ok so when I put my GN away I was having problems with it. I had just got done with the whole V2 swap over. I think some of you guys remember my probs.

So anyways the car is at about 33# of fuel with line off. Should be at around 40# to 43#. And today when I was driving it, I could smell some gas. I am thinking it was my car. I know it is still to rich because of the black **** it is spitting out the tailpipes when I rev it in park. BUT, is this because my boost is only hitting 5lbs?? The fuel should go up with the boost. I forgot to watch my fuel pressure gauge.........doh!! When I put the car away I had it running at 10lbs of boost. I believe the exhaust housing is leaking around the puck area. THAT WILL DO IT, I KNOW, I KNOW. Should I tackle my boost problems first then worry about the fuel situation????????I have had no knock what so ever since the whole swap over. Just way to much fuel and not enough boost.

Here is a stupid question = if the boost gauge senses the boost from the intake charge is there anyway to tell from your boost gauge that you have a bad headgasket?? A headgasket could cause the low boost level right? So since the boost gauge reads the boost before the charged air reaches the cyclinders then the boost gauge would not tell you if you have a headgasket problem??? I NOT SURE IF I AM GETTING MY IDEA ACROSS HERE. I dont think I have a headgasket problem but I just wanted clear this boost gauge **** up...........it is messing with my head. Oil is good as is the anitfreeze. I dont smell antifreeze through the exhaust or anything................just fuel......LOL. I think I am just getting worried over nothing. I think my problem is with that exhaust housing and possibly some of the turbo bolts are not tight enough......who knows. I just plan on pulling the turbo off and going over it bolt by bolt.

What could cause my problem of to much fuel?? Chip? Injector harness? Injector(s)? ECM?

Thanks much guys, Nick

Hey nick. I know how you're feeling. I had the exact same probs with my car when i first put the kit on. I was running ruch as everm, and i couldn't get anymore thna about 7 -8 psi boost. I suppose one of the first things id check is to make sure your wastegate actuator is functioning normally, and is mounted correctly. I know with these kits, they can be a little bit of a headache for it to work right. I had to drill another hole and mount it somewhat differently for it to work right. Also, how are your vacuum lines to the wastegate? I found that when I hooked the actuator up to the solenoid, i couldn't get over 8 psi. I bypassed the solenoid and ran a line straight from the turbo to the actuator, and that allowed me to run almost boost as i want.
I think I hit 22 psi:eek: and i know i wont need to run that much with the Ta33. I also heard that some of the TM kits had weld problems on the passanger side part of the doghouse in where it leaked boost and caused bad idling. That is a possibility. I checked mine out, and it looked good. so i assume everything is fine. But it is for sure a possibility. I know turbowrenchhead had that prob with his intake, and had to get it rewelded.I don't think you have a headgasket problem, as i thought that was my prob. but it wasen't. what kinda wasteate are you running? And how do you have the lines run? Also what kinda chip are you running?Once we get to this point in the process, its time we get custom burns chips for our combos. Was your EGR deleted? or are you running an egr? If now, you will probably have to get a chip burnt to take the egr signal out.. Let me know and i'll do all I can to help you. Us TM V2 guys are very few, and we gotta stick together. Let me know..:p

I got a 87 heavy duty style adj. wastegate on there............I was using my old adj. wastegate and thought that was the prob.....but it wasnt. I am running the wastegate right off the turbo. All my vacumm lines were good when I put her away. I never really looked into how the wastegate is mounted.....humm. I know one for sure my $60 bigger heat sheild is now a $60 protecting my hood from the wastegate. Hood clearance sucks!!

I will have to check the welds on the intake. EGR is deleted and I am running a turbotweak.com chip with a 87 ECM.

Did your running rich problem go away once you got your boost under control and to your desired level???

I dont really hear exhaust leaks around the exhaust elbow at all, but I am sure once I get on the gas while driving you could probably hear it. Probably a small leak somewhere.

Another thing I should check out is possibly the intercooler leaking..............it was damaged when I recieved it in the mail.......so it may be possible the guy that fixed it might have missed something...........but he did find 3 leaks in it.

Thanks for replying BuickTV6, I will hopefully get time to work on it this coming weekend. Later, Nick
