Hey guys,

I am running a 93 octane street chip with moderate timing. Im seeing 20 psi at peak boost. Is that too much boost for 93 octane and 55's? I filled up with 100 octane yesterday, how much boost can I run with 100 still on the street chip? Thanx

No scanner but the prior owner set the car running right with the turbolink he gave me. I dont hear any knock, but I was warned about silent knock on these cars? I dont know, Im coming from a blown 5.0 mustang, so if theres knock you hear it. Thanx

You need to get a Scanmaster or something to monitor knock at all times. Theres really no way to tell for sure how much boost you can run safely without a scanmaster or other tuning device. I would be willing to bet your getting several degrees of retard unless the car is running 100%. THe most i can do on 93 is about 18 psi w/ 009's and a walbro 307.

I have 55's would that help me at all. My fuel pump is hotwired as well. Not sure where the prior owner set the fuel pressure at either. So with these cars if you run too much boost the ecu will retard the car?? So if I turn it down to like 17 18 psi on 93 will it feel better than I am now at 20psi and probably some degrees of retard? Thanx

Right, too much detonation and the computer will pull timing but you can still blow head gaskets! Turning it down to 17 or 18 would be the safe way to go until you get a full time scantool. A fuel pressure gauge and adjustable regualtor is also a must. I have the liquid filled underhood gauge.

What about now that I am on 100 octane, should I be ok with 20psi, or would you still lower it? Thanx for all your help

You should be ok with 100 octane but me personally, I wouldn't drive hard or race without my Scanmaster or at least a knock gauge
