The local stealership is having a huge sale on pre-owned vehicles. I have been wanting another truck for a while so I went in. Those salesmen are like vultures. I told them I wanted a 4x4 4 door full size 1500 truck. No problem did not really care about year or color. They had a couple truck that fir the bill of what I wanted. So into the show room we go to talk about a 'deal' on the truck.

Just inside the showroom there are floor mat all over with different logo GM brands. As we walk over the Buick mat I told the salesman that if I buy a truck I want this mat. He shrugged and laughed. So we sit down and make a deal on the price I want. I told him only good if I get 2 keys, 2 key FOBs, and the floor mat. He said if there is only 1 key and FOB then that is all I get. I told him that those are my last 3 demands or I walk. HE lookeed puzzled and the n went to see his boss. Came back and said that there will be 2 keys and 2 key FOB's. Again I said I want the mat. He asked if I was serious and I told him very much so. He said just a minute and walked away.

He comes back and said that he cannot get an answer on the mat. I smiled and said not truck then. He could not believe it. So he looked around real quick and told me to roll it up fast and throw it in the van that I was driving at the time. After the deal was done, names where signed and keys in my pocket he told me that he was told no on the mat but his boss was in the back. Only one other salesman saw me take it and he thought it was funny.

Call me crazy but I was more excited about the mat than the truck.

That was great man, you just gave me a great Idea too. I've been out shopping for the past couple day's for a Hummer H2, very low miles etc. I will also keep an eye out for those hard to find Buick floor mats:wink:

At least you didn't buy the floor mat and steal the truck.

You are welcome to use that as your defense if they come at you.

I wish I could have seen the look on the mans face when he asked if you were serious and you said YES! Priceless!

That's hardcore man, hardcore!!

so is the wife gonna let you put it on the floor at the foot of the bed?:p

Good man! Make them earn it.

I always make them put in the contract that I get a loaner if I have to bring it in for warranty. They really balk at that.

ROFLOL~!!! Good thing I'm reading this early enough not to spit beer at the keyboard!

Yer killin me Lebowski !!!!!!

Interesting story!...and I'd love to have a mat like that too!...which leads me to think that there has to be someone somewhere making these mats with any logo you want...It would be nice if we could have more of them made for us Buick enthusiasts!...it might be worth looking into...
Also, "jpratt", is there a manufacturer's name written on it or on the back or some clue helping us finding who makes them?...thanks!.

Claude. :)

P.S: I've found this site: The Mat King Business and Industry Mats & Matting Index

and this one:

and this:

I just closed down my Pontiac Buick GMC dealership that was family owned since 1979. I ended up with all kinds of treasures including that exact same mat!! The only problem is that every time it was washed the black lettering kept getting more and more faded. We started coloring them back on with black sharpe markers.

LOL, why don't I ever get customers demanding this??? It is actually in the GM dealer agreement that for bigger jobs we have to provide loaner/rental cars and General Motors pays for it! When we file for the warranty claim it just gets added to the RO. If it is a long term fix we file for a rental car, if it is a shorter term partial day fix we usually file it under shuttle service (which pays less). The amount isn't much if the customer bangs up the car or uses a full tank of gas (please don't do that to your dealer) but most good repeat customers are generally curtious.

The biggest kick in the shorts was that GM started to push dealers into keeping their loaner fleets newer. Once the loaner gets 2 or 3 years old we need to get another new one. Gets really expensive to keep new cars in loaner service all of the time. I think some dealers are using older cars and just writing down vin#'s for a new one when they file the claim.

I think I have a problem.

If you dont admit you have a problem, do you still have one?
