I just bought my '86 GN the other day and the previous owner had converted the brakes to vacuum. Despite the weird differences in pedal pressure, the brakes overall feel good. But there is something that kinda freaks me out and I wanted to see if this is normal or something I should have looked at: if I'm driving down the road and completely stand on the brakes, they will NOT lock up. It stops really hard, but never completely locks the brakes.
Also, if I try to torque up the motor to build some boost with the brake pedal mashed, sometimes the car will actually roll along with the wheels slowly turning. Other times it will just sit there, holding 6 lbs (car has a converter) and do nothing with the throttle on the floor... No rear tire spin, no pushing, nothing.
Anyone ever hear of anything like this? Is any of this normal? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Peter
