Bjj

I have been doing BJJ on and off since 1996. Absolutely love the art. The art is just as addicting as these Turbo Buicks. You will think about submissions, counters and combinations many many times through the day. He is a couple BJJ trophies and certificates I have acquired over the years.

One trophy was from a Canadian submission tournament. I took 2nd in the Renzo Gracie tournament in 2000. Other one is from a Frank Shamrock tournament in 1999. The certificate is from the NAGA (North American Grappling Association) where I accumulated enough points from wins to be placed 5th in their organization. My first match ever in 1997, Ralph "Pitbull" Gracie was the referee.lol I will post more pixs and trophies sometime.

That's pretty cool. When I wwas first looking into it I didn't think that I would compete but now I'm thinking I will for the challenge.

okay

Cool. Make sure you are comfortable fighting from every position. Be very careful with the leg, knee and ankle locks. They started integrating leg locks (Sambo-Russian Jiu-Jitsu) in the mid 90's USA BJJ tournaments. I usually wear a gi. A higher percentage of grapplers will tend grab the gi or gi pants instead of attacking your legs. Some submission grapplers will be desperate and attack the legs due to their fatigue.

Remember, conditioning is everything. You can have the fastest car in the world. If you don't put gas in it, it will go nowhere.

turbojiujitsu seems very knowledgeable in BJJ. PM him or myself or call me for pointers.

Tomorrow night will be my third class. I intend to stick with the gi for some time to have the basics down before I move onto no-gi. I also am not going to start in any competitions for some time for the same reason!!!

I will admit that I hadn't thought about what to use for a grip in no-go though....definitely good advice!

I'm teling you the best thing I did to elevate my game especially the no gi was getting Eddies books. Yeah you'll get alot of the hardcore Gracie bjj guys saying without a gi it's just grappling or that Eddies stuff is a parlor trick but I think that whatever helps you improve can't be a bad thing. If you give me your email I can send you them in pdf that way you can check them out before buying them.
