you were talking about talking me through converting this trans from non-lockup back to lockup....i did some digging on the net and i found this...

- Here's exactly the procedure to convert a lockup pump to a non-lockup pump
on the 200-4R.
- 1) Remove checkball and casing from input shaft. (works with lockup to,
makes the lockup feel like another gear shift)
2) Remove lockup valve assembly from pump.
3) Replace with Art Carr's non-lockup valve.
4) Remove a cup plug from pump.
5) Tap cup plug oriface and insert hex screw, locking non-lockup valve in
place
- That's it. Going back to lockup isn't too big of a deal. The hardest part
was getting the cup plug to hold in the tapped oriface. I just expanded the
plug with a hammer. :) I left the checkball out of the shaft. Feels like I
have five gears now when it locks up.
- BTW: You can keep both a lockup version and a non-lockup version pump lying
around, and the only change to go from one to the other would be switching
the pump and converter. I was going to do this so I ordered a pump from a
GSCA supplier. But I found the the stator support was a USED unit and it
was installed such that I couldn't remove it. So I just converted the non-
lockup pump back to a lockup.

is it that simple, i mean it doesn't look simple to me...but it sure doesn't seem like alot of steps....plus i was reading through the postons catalog and they have a non-lockup valve or something like that...could that be what i have in the trans...

one more thing, i drove the car about 60-70 miles back from the shop like that before i parked it...could i have hurt something...

for those of you who don't know what i'm talking about go to my last post in this section....

this was posted june 30, 1994 on the gnnttype list...way before i was into buicks...

You are correct... no big deal.
All I was saying was it is coming out again.
So ,? Did you do it? it work now? Lemme know...:D

nope...to hell with this transmission, i'm just going to have the one i took out built by andy.... ....i'm sick of shtuff not panning out for me....i hate to spend 1000 muthaflockin' dollars but i've got to now, but atleast it will be a one time fix....andy does a great job and his tranny's have gone far beyond peoples expectations...plus he backs his work....

thanks for all of your help bruce...if i lived in cali you'd be doing th e trans for me....

Godfrey.....Go to the bar!!!

Insert a drink. This should help. If not, at least you will not care ! :)

Hope all works out for you....

we took the trans completely apart tonight...the original one that is...most of the stuff was scored, burnt, or worn...the band that goes around the drum looked like someone had had it in a furnace....but the good news is that i have hardened parts in there from a previous rebuild...like the shaft in the front of the tranny where the pump is, and the pump is a ten vein pump...also, that big spring in the second gear accumulator ( i think ) wasn't there at all.....andy said it was a mess...i should have my trans back like friday i think...
