to bescured and to bttwracing -- do you two remember how many emails and pm's I sent you or do I need to post them here --you people were not answering when I repeatedly told that the turbo has up and down play and quite a bit and I was not happy with it -- do you think that (if you were honest enough like you are not) and said something in your add when you started selling your turbo that it has shaft play anyone would have given you the money that i gave you --i think not ..Your asking price was $1000 for a turbo that has shaft play and in my book this thing should be like new.Have been thru several turbos from 49.s thru 63 and even had a twin turbo v8 car so I have some knowledge about turbos and shaft play and do understand that some is ok but not this much .As i have stated to all the non beleivers when I hold one side of the shaft up or down I can actually bind up or stop the turbo from spinning --dead..Try that on your own turbo and see if you can do it -not if the bearings are good ..I am not here to bash anyone and actually dont have time for stupid stuff like that but this great internet site is built on trust and any bad deals should be reported so people know who are they dealing with ..Will stop and Reds and get his two cents in the next couple day's ..

Yeah post it up you messaged me 5 times and I responded to 3 I didn't respond to the last two so what dude i'm not on here alot... while your at it why don't you post up the one that you sent to me saying its "your turn" in a threating way???

Go have Red check it out. From what I saw the turbo was fine and I would install it on my own car you payed 645.00 for a 76Q trim turbo. Come on dude get a grip.

go through my file and find what you want i have sold several things on here and all has been well. maybe you can really have it checked out so we can find out whats really wrong ir if just surface rust is causing the problem it sat in garage for a long time. i would love to see whats wrong with it. please send me pm when you find out and please get a written est. on fixing it. i am not the type of person to screw someone over. if i was getting rid of that knowingly bad i would surley not do it here.tb.com is by far the best buick site why screw a few buick owner over. the one thing i have always talked about with anyone is buick guys are kool and are not pricks and dont turn there back on others. any buick guy knows that. however if you go to mustangs and honda boards and peps around everyone is getting screwed. i am not that person so i have already told you what i can do. wait till i get cash, have it checked out , or go that other route.

Sounds like you need to get a professional opinion or put it on the car and see if the play goes away once oil goes through it. I have thought I had a turbo going out when the car sits for a while then check after firing the car and it is tight as can be.

My solution would be to send the turbo to PTE and split 1/2 the cost to rebuild/upgrade or wait till he can give you your $$ back. The seller has to do something if it's worn out as he can't sell it for 1k again so this might just clear up any question as if the buyer is full of $hit or not and the seller will be confident that the deal was made right and it will then go away forever.

turbos can move up and down about .027" oil pressure centers it up and keeps it from hitting the housing when running. How much thrust (in and out play) does it have? So far it does not sound to bad. Before you panic lest get more info.

You havent even installed it yet to see if it works? Not taking anyones side but if it does work you got a smoking deal, if not and you have to pay 300 to get it fixed your still not in bad shape, what are they new 1200-1500? JMHO

opinions

Spent most of the day today in aquiring opinions on this turbo so I stopped at Buschur racing in Wakeman -Ohio and talk to several people that work there and out of three of them got two to say they will not use this turbo or that it needs rebuild and one was undecided .Then stopped at Switzer performance and inovation ltd on route 20 in oberlyn and talked to the owner Tym and he said that this turbo is one step before rebuild but he would not use it since it might do more damage then good -finnaly stopped at performance automotive next door down from Switzer and got same answer that the turbo is on last leg and I should not install it.The only guy left is Red Armstrong which where this turbo originated I guess but I am tired of running around and asking for opinions on turbo that should have been in good shape to begin with so I am going to send this turbo to John Craig and If it needs rebuild like I beleive it does I am going to pay for it since more then likely I will not get anything from bttwracing ..

I just recieved your turbo today and I am not happy with it -- it has shaft play up and down and I can barrely get to turn and also it looks that it has been appart not too long a go ..According to your original add this was almost like a new turbo --I like to know how are you going to take care of this issue..

Well I am not worried too much about the rust on turbo but about the shaft play which will require a rebuild .It is so bad if you hold the shaft up on one end or the other you cannot spin the turbo -it binds up ..This is what i can reccomend to you either I send you the turbo back and you refund my money or I send it for a rebuild and you pay for it unless you have a better idea..

If you would have refunded my monies and got your turbo back non of this would have nappened. I had a hell of a time to get you to respond to my pm's and even had to go thru your brother to get to you but look at you now you are on the site every day and you are telling me you are getting pissed.You were forewarned about the consequences and just to let you know we are not done yet -- I am still to find out what is going to cost me to get this thing rebuilt by John C .but beleive me you will be the first one to know..
