I have a 82GN...new buick 455/th400 eldebrock high performance rpm heads, forged pistons ect 242/242 cam, 850 quick fuel double pumper carb.
Car shuts of when I hit brakes hard and trying to find out if tge timing is right at 34°

Sounds like you have fuel issues. You're probably sending all the fuel to the front of the bowl on hard braking and sucking air and uncovering the jets.

First you need to make sure the float level is set right because that will only compound the issues you speak of if it is to low.

As far as your timing goes that doesn't have anything to do with what you describe.

There are other factors but you give to little information to make an accurate diagnosis.

Make sure your fuel delivery system is functioning properly and go from there.
