This will be my second air conditioner compressor from advance auto. It's made by factory air. The first one I might not have done the installation right. After about a month the seal blew out. This one I followed all instructions. It's been working good for about two months. Now you can see where the clutch has gotten overheated (burned). It's starting to make some noise until you kick on the air. I could take it back for another one,but I don't want to do this again. Will a A/C delco last longer? I probably got on it a few times with the air on. Could enough sudden horsepower cause one to burn out? Any recommendation on compressors?

I have also had very poor luck with reman A/C compressors. The best of them don't last nearly as long as a new or low mile used GM compressor. I feel, a GM compressor is the only way to go. With refrigerant as expensive as it is, you don't want to have to do this job over and over again.

I don't want to burden you with my problems, but a few years ago, I went through 4 parts store reman compressors in a 90 day period. Two of them didn't last until the car got home from the shop. I finally got lucky enough to get one that lasted.

Selecting a/c when you are at low speed, or at idle seems to help front seal longevity, as will turning off the AC during Acceleration blasts.

Thanks for your input. I was just wondering how many others have had problems with remanufactured stuff. I did get into the accelerator a few times.

Remanufactured stuff

Unless proven that it is a good proven product, I stay away from reman. Too many headaches.

are you guys changing orrifice tube and accumulator after compressor changes?

Forgot the orifice tube the first time, but did everything right the second time. If it is just my clutch and compressor still works and doesn't leak, I won't need to change the accumalator and orifice tube this time will I? I do have a vacuum pump and will pull a vacuum.
