I think GM has a huge disconnect with it's market. They seem to hire really good engineers (even the Aztek two-step had some cool features from an engineering standpoint), but the marketing department
In it's own right, the new GTO is an amazing car, they did an excellent job engineering it. But any idiot on the street could have told them it wouldn't sell with a GTO badge on it. They tried to bank in on "retro" without going retro. The kind of people that would run in droves to buy a new "GTO" are the ones that grew up with the original GTO's, and want to see retro styling. I'm not gonna bash the new GTO, just saying that it wouldn't have been an abysmal sales failure if they had researched the market better (or at all). Just look at the hugely retro styled Stang, they can't keep em on the lots. Just my .02
