I know you guys like the stock cam for TR's, unless you have a radical build.

I'm looking at building a NA 4.1, and there are a bunch of cams available. I hear a lot about the Lunati 206. Anybody ever use Isky cams/lifters? How about the Edelbrock cam that is recommended with the intake manifold?

And since I'm NA, should I look for a more aggresive cam, as I am making power without forced induction.

How do the stock springs hold up? Are new springs necessary, or do I need to have them tested?

What I would like to do is go with a hotter cam, aluminum manifold, headers, beefed up ignition, and probably an Edelbrock carb. I'm not looking for 300+ HP. Just a strong motor to drop into my 78 Z.

The Edlebrock Performer Cam & Manifold package worked well for me, really woke the N/A motor up. I went with a Holley 390 CFM Vac secondary carb and a K&N air filter. Get the heads mildly ported and polished, along with a valve job and have the machine shop check the spring pressures for you. (New springs won't hurt :) )
I also used the MSD 6AL Module to help in the spark department, and had the distributor blueprinted and recurved.
Headers may be tough to get to fit your application. You will have to see what's available and do some measuring to see if the will come close to fitting. (I ended up having to make my own)

The pass side hear for our cars wont work on a n/a because it has a passage for the crossover from the drivers side. You could probably use a drivers side header.
Besides our headers are stainless and would be a waste on a n/a motor.

You dont want to go too big because of limited cubic inches, but you need more than a turbo motor, so I would go a little bigger than a 206 but not too much more
