Hey guys. I bought a new cam positioning sensor cap for the car, cause the original one has a big ol whole in the top and im afraid water will get in it., if not already. My question is, can I just remove the old sensor on top of the shaft and put the new one on? Or will It require anything else in order for it to get working?

yep, just replace the cap and you're good to go...That's assuming the car was running fine with the sensor that was there...

Thanks FJM. Well the car always ran pretty decent for the most part. Always fired up really quick, never hjad a problem starting it. It does tend to idle rough, but I do not think that is cam sensor related. What do you guys think?

Rough idle could be a lot of things...Like bad injs, vacuum leaks, IAC not set right, bad coil pack/ign module, etc...Doubt that it is the cam sensor cap causing your idle problem...But with a hole in the cap, it's not a bad idea to replace it ;)

Cam sensor cap

Once the engine is running the cam sensor could be unplugged and the engine will keep running. It is used to start the vehicle and give a reference for the fuel injection. It is possible to install the cam sensor 180* out, but you would have to lift the shaft up and install the gear out of time to do that. Hope this helps
