Cam sensor cap

While changing out my coil and icm I noticed the cam sensor cap has a small chunk of plastic that's broken off. The car runs ok cold but idles rough when warm? Any info as to how the cap affects drive ability is much appreciated, thanks

I don't see how that would effect warm idle.

What chip? It could be going into closed loop when it's warm.
