I reacently installed an engine in my GN with help of a friend. While I was out of town he did some work on the engine including putting in the camsensor.
The engine runs but the o2 reading are wacky .800-.840 at idle and at any throttle position .042-.83. I also get knock anywere above 11psi and I have checked the knock trouble list no problems except , the cat may be bad. I have fuel pressure at 37 lineoff. I have a feeling this problem is related to fuel injection timing.
I know how to set the camsensor; the motor is set at 25degress ATC and the caps is off the sensor as well and the one bolt behind the sensor being taken out.
I have a cam tool to set the sensor. I am afraid I will have to remove the whole camsensor because of improper installation of the sensor shaft. The keyhole window in the steel circle under the cap is not were it appears in illistrations that I have, I have tried turing the motor one more revolution to get #1 at TDC. But the windows is about 100degrees aways from were it should be.

My questions are how is the camsensor shaft removed, and how would I set it to the right accuracy?
Any help I could get to to fix my camsensor would be very helpful.

I'd say 37psi of fuel pressure, line off, is a little low,,, I'd like, at least, 37psi line on. My car likes about 40-41 psi, line on. That might be why you're getting knock. It's best to adjust fuel psi for WOT, the rest of the time, the ECM controls fueling.
Also, the window on the cam sensor disk can be in numerous angles, and still be set correctly. What's important is to set it when the motor is at 25 after top dead on the compression stroke,,,I use a compression tester to determine that,, because you have 2 top dead centers, sorta( one is 180 degrees off), since the crank turns 2 times to one revolution of the cam.

I just put my finger over the spark plug hole to feel the compression stroke. watch your ballancer for the timmimg mark and your supposed to so 1.45" past 0. Place the sensor back in and it should be fine. I just set my cam sensor yeserday like this and is working fine.
