I'm looking to replace my stock cam, lifters, and springs. Any suggestions on brand or manufactur? Any suggestions would really help. need something that works well with a close to stock setup.

Keep the stock one if all you're wanting to do is change the cam out...The stock cam is good well into the 11s and people have run 10s with it...Plus, if you haven't lost a lobe on it, keep running it, because if you don't break in a new cam on these motors just right, you will lose a lobe and will be changing it again...

These motors don't need a cam to make them run fast...They're not NA Chevy's or Ford's...

Like he said, stock cam is great and you should stick with it if possible. If your stock cam is bad and you can't find another one, I've had great experience with the Lunati 200-200, Ruggles 210-205, and Lunati 206-206. The 200-200 would be a great choice for a stock setup. Over camming is way worse than undercamming. You will lose bottom end and not gain a thing up top.

When i changed my oil pump and timing chain about 6 months ago, i got a peak at the cam lobes (som of them) and it wasn't in the greatest condition. Where can we usually pick up a stock cam? Are 84/85 cams the same as 86/87?

Cool84,
Would that Lunati 200-200 be close to over camming? I haven't found much on cams and have no idea which it too much and which isn't. I want in to be reliable with performance back to the way its suppose to be, or the way other stock 84/85s have.

Any of the cams I mentioned would work with a stock setup although you might not notice much of a gain with the stock turbo and intake.

i ran the speedpro 194-204 cam in my hotair motor ...

it idled like stock and drove like stock till you put foot in it and it was noticable difference over stock..

personally if i put my hotair setup back in anything it will get the peedpro 204-214 cam it still holds like stock vacuum and drives great but pull like a sob when foot gets planted.

Stocks factory cams are discontinued and unavailable...

Real easy way to check to see if you're losing your lobes...Pull your valve covers off and using a big socket/ratchet on the crankshaft bolt, turn the motor over by hand and watch all the rocker arms moving up and down...They should all mover about the same amount...If they are all moving about the same then don't worry about it...You're just trying to make more work for yourself and you run the risk of wiping cam lobes if you replace your cam...You shouldn't need to replace the cam unless you wipe a lobe or are doing a complete rebuild on the motor...That stock cam is good enough for 10 second quarters with a BUILT 86/7 motor, so with a hotair motor, it is plenty...
