What do you guys think about putting aftermarket car alarm in your car? Good ideal or bad one?

I guess if you never worried about your car getting stolen then why bother. I have a alarm and a immobalizer in mine. There aint no way some punk kids gonna steal it on me.
As long as the person know what they are doing putting it in, it will be perfectly fine.

I alarm everything, besides the peace of mind its convienient. Click a button car alarms and doors lock. Click again and your in. Never use a key again .Hook the trunk up to the aux button. It's no guarantee its not going to get stolen, but why not make it harder?

IMO unless you put an air raid siren both inside the car AND perhaps outside, why bother? It seems anymore people ignore car alarms when they go off. Well maybe not if someone has one that goes off constantly at 4 a.m.

I'd like to put one in, but the thing that makes me nervous is the shop screwing around with 24 year old wiring.

I installed an alarm, with a remote start, and also added the trunk opener, along with the factory alarm, took a few hours, but really like the remote start!

I would get one with a paging unit. At least you know when it goes off, but it they want it bad enough they will get it.

I've been looking for an alarm system with a good paging unit, but unable to find one....where could I get one with a pager that is good for long distance, like from inside a store, etc.?

Bruce, you can get one that send a text to your phone, they're out there just a bit expensive.
