I've owned two 87 GN's and one thing I've never figured out (forgive me) is what one of the lights means. When the sunlight catches them just right, you can see what the idiot lights say, and one that has never lit up is 'Car Is Leveling'. What in the heck is that supposed to signify? I had also always wondered what the 'Power Injection' light meant as well, and recently read that Buick was originally thinking of putting water injection kits on these cars, but decided not to at the last minute without taking that light off of the dash. Can anyone verify or disprove this theory?

these were the same clusters that were used in the Riviera's the Riviera had the ride leveling as an option and the power injection is something that has been said by people to be a Water Injection system for the buicks that never evolved enough to production.

That's pretty kick a$$ to know! What exactly did the car leveling do?

Just what it sounds like. The rear airshocks levelled the car when a load was applied, ie. rear passengers, cement bags in the trunk, etc. A small on-board air compressor is located in the engine bay.

My wife's Buick LeSabre has the same option and it kicks a55, especially after a trip to Sam's Club.:D

A mystery older than the wind itself..at....last.........revealed.

Right on! Thanks so much!

My 85 Riv had that option.

Was pretty cool - you'd get in it and the back end would slowly rise ;)

I did like that car...it was like driving a couch down the highway.

GM originally thought about putting water injection
on the turbo cars and yes, that's what the
light was for.

I was wondering about that light the other day as well. You mean to tell me that the system didn't make production, but still got an idiot light???

Yeah, from what I read the idea was scrapped so late at the drawing board that there literally wasn't enough time to replan/remake the awaiting dash clusters. (Don't hold me to that though-after all, I started this thread to find out if that was true or not.) It seems to me that my car should have a 'Wife Is Jealous' light, but that would cost me a fortune replacing the bulbs.;)
