Car over revs

My car will over rev when I have it to the floor and will nt shift on its own in any gear for it to shift I have to let off barely then it will shift. Could my converter have anything to do with it? It says 7y on my converter

Forgot to mention its a rebuilt transmission with a transgo shift kit.

Sounds like it might be the governor, is it the same one that you had before the rebuild??

I'm no expert, just one of the symptons of no shift at WOT. Maybe someone who rebuilds them will chime in.

I recently bought the car from a guy on this site and he was saying maybe it had the wrong shift kit put in, I've been told by a few others it could be the governor as well. I'm going pull the pan off my tranny this weekend and see what I can do

While you have the pan off checking the governor spring, youu may want to check the tv cable also. I had the same problem before my rebuild. Somehow the cable became unadjusted and the tv arm wasn't contacting the tv plunger in the transmission correctly.
