Car shakes at 60 mph

why is this! any other mph and the car feels smooth...even 65+...but when i am between 55 and 65 the car will vibrate sort of hard and very fast...all my tires are balanced (at least i think!) and was wondering what would cause such a thing???

Well, at about 115mph my car would shake then I got new tires and puff!! gone! Just check them anyway so you Know for sure. Otherwise look at the drive shaft and U-joints, cracked flywheel,Could be a number of things kAwaBuNga DuDE

i would suspect a drive shaft (i hope you have a loop). look at the tires and see if there are any bubles in them. then have them blanced and rotated.



kinda off topic this reminds me of a joke.

Tires can be perfectly balanced and still cause some serious vibrations. They won't catch it on a balancer, not even a dynamic one. The tires/wheels need to be checked on one those new devices that simulates load. Most Discount Tire stores have them now.

Had to use that to find the bad goodyears on my last SUV

Vibrated just as you described. Had them rebalanced at least once a month, they'd be good for a couple days and then the vibration would come back.

Something wrong with a couple of the tires and goodyear had to take them back.

Check to make sure you dont have a bent rim. Same thing happened to me. Up to 55 mph things were fine then 55-65 a real bad shake. Above 65 you could hardly tell. Replaced rim and alls better. Just my opinion... Good luck...
