Car shifs in between 3rd and od

Ive just recently noticed that when im crusing steadily 45 mph. the car shifts gears. Like it cant find the right gear it should be in.
3rd or od, like it cant make up it mind? Does this mean i need a rebuild. Its reall annoying and the car just sounds stupid going from low to high to low to high through the rpm range. any suggestios?

V-8, Bruce suggest taking a few clicks out of the tv cable adjustment and give us some feed back after doing that. Let us know,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Mark

if all else fails change the 3/4 tv spring out for a heavier one.it could be broken also .have ran across this before,but usually a cable adjust helps.

I have seen that 3-4 spring broke too. It drives you nuts trying to find it cause of the inconsistancy when trying to diagnois. Sucks. I had one recently that the 2-3 shift spring had broken. That trans did some of THE weirdest crap I have ever seen.

I would bet either he has too much TV or the converter is locking and unlocking..

Thanks for the info guys, Ill try to make that adjustment on the TV cable. If I only knew what that was. lol Ill be taking it by my mechanic to take a look. Bruce @ progressive, unless this is definitely something i could do myself? If that doesnt work then maybe its just the converter locking and unlocking?
