Car sputtering under acceleration...possible fuel filter?

I noticed it last night, the car sputters and hesitates under acceleration, but runs fine at idle. I know the filter has only been replaced once and it has 78K miles. The car had a Racetronix 340 pump/wire kit installed about 6 mo. ago and has an adj. regulator. I don't have a scanmaster yet, so I can't check error codes either.

Also, how do I depressurize the fuel system so I can replace the filter? I've never done this work before and I'd rather not screw it up.

Find the schrader valve , its on the fuel rail near the regulator . Take off the cap and it has a pin like a tire valve . Press that in with a cup under it to catch tha gas .

Unplug the fuel pump harness under the back bumper, crank the car until it starts then dies, then you're ready to rock. Make sure you reconnect the harness when you try to restart the car too Don't ask me how I know that last one

Dont mean to cut in with a question but if you have the car off lets say over night isn't all the pressure out of the system? without you having to unplug or drain it any way?

WOOHOO! New filter fixed the problem right away! My dad and I had a little bet on whether it was the plug wires or the filter. He said wires and I said otherwise. There wasn't any real pressure in the lines, but about 2 cups of fuel came out and now my garage smells like Amoco Ultimate! Thanks for the input!
