Car trouble

Hi, I have a 1987 Buick Grand National. It is all stock except for an RJC powerplate and a bigger cam but I'm not sure of the specs on the cam. It has not been running right for about a week. I just got a powerlogger and when I scanned it the o2 was all over the place. I replaced the sensor but it didn't fix the problem. When I went to scan it at first it was running normal but then it began to struggle, so, I recorded both. The file extension is dat, does anyone know how I can change them to upload it?

" .dat" is the correct file extension you just need to compress them(zip) and upload(attach) it as a zipped file.

I'm not sure what you mean by compress or zip.

Ok. It looks like I have to download a program and then compress the file? Does anyone know of a good site with a program to download?

So, I'm assuming a couple things here first. 1 you are running a windows OS , 2 you have saved your your logs(runs or whatever) somewhere on your PC/laptop.

Find the log file that you want to post here(it'll be a .dat file). Right click on that file and a dropdown menu will open and you'll choose to "send to" which opens another drop down and click on "compressed(zipped) folder. It will then compress that file and show it as the same name file only with some icon that indicates it's compressed or zipped in the area that you have saved the original uncompressed log.

Now when you post here, down below there is a manage attachments section which is how you will "browse" and then select that zipped file to be attached to your next post.

Ok i think I got it. Like I said I just started it and let it idle but took two scans because after the first the o2 started jumping around.

It doesn't look like it warmed up all the way yet,in either log.But as idle logs go it looks okay. The O2 is kinda static, but I don't know if that's characteristic of the chip you're running as I'm used to looking at open loop idles.

The TPS is wee bit high for my liking, but my engine likes .38-.40 therefore I do too!

I also don't see the P/N switch flag, unless your idling in gear...in which case...you wouldn't.

Log a real run...WOT run from a dead stop.

Also what chip and mods do you have and why aren't you logging vac/boost off the MAP sensor?

I'm not sure how to hook it up to log the boost, maybe you can help me out. I have the stock chip in right now, but I also have a thrasher chip for the stock injectors, Razor's alky, and a maf translator, but I'm planning on ordering a stock maf from fullthrottle or somewhere.

It was in park when I logged those, and the other day it died and showed a code 44 and I think 14, but they didn't show up later. It also won't go over 10 pounds of boost, so, I think I may need a new wastegate.

My laptop just went awall or I'd post a log.

This should detail your MAP hookup so you can start logging boost.


If you have a translator just get an LT1 maf and forget the "stock" maf. No sense making a lateral change.

So, hookup your MAP sensor to the I/O board of the PL and log some runs and report back.

I got the MAP hooked up to the I/O board but my labtop is still messed up and won't even turn on. As soon as I get it going I'll record a log and post it ASAP.

Everytime I turn it on a black screen comes up that says I can "Press <ESC> to bypass LAN check" and then after a minute it says "PXE-E51: No DHCP or proxyDHCP offers were received." "Operating System not found." So, I'm going to get into somebody on Monday and I'll post a log ASAP
