I only went to touchless car washes. My soft tonneau was fine.

Yeah I actually went to the drive thru & asked the clerk ahaed of time..
He said they didn't have the top roller bristle...
They had the style were strips dangle & drag over.
Came out nice. I will still limit how many times I go.
We occasionally will sqweak out a 40 plus day where I ca wash by hand

Same here. I had a cheap Extang cover and ran it thru car washes for 5 plus years.Was still on it when I traded it in.

Touchless washes are the safest for your cover but don't clean for sh!t. They also use caustic chemical that will strip your wax and over time etch the surfaces of your vehicle. Thats right. The one thing most people have no idea about.
Take it from a car wash veteran, nothing is better than a good soft cloth car wash. Most are oblivious to this. The old urban myth that the car wash scratches lives on in minds of most common people. Because of this they will pick touch less over soft cloth for their grocery getters.
99.9 out of 10 the cover will be alright (I wash them all the time) but keep in mind they will not cover damage to any loose or aftermarket items.
Check your vehicle over before entering any carwash. Almost every car that comes in my wash already has some issue. Either scratches, loose mirrors, moldings, lights, etc. It's funny too because no one ever looks at their car before they go in. Only after.
Only other thing I can tell you is choose a modern place thats has a well lit tunnel with allot of water and soap going on. Don't bring it through an old dark dungeon wash. If they don't take care of the place, they could care less about your car.
