My car decided to not want to start not even crank the other day. So ive been trying to figure this out the past two days now im stuck. Want some opinions b4 i continue. So i checked out the lil things like fuses and wires, then went to test the cam and crank. Everything checked out fine. But i went ahead and changed the crank sensor anyway and still no crank. (I have the cam sensor remove would that stop it from at least cranking?) So the last thing on the list is the ign module! How do you test those?

Spins over but doesn't fire? If it doesn't spin check all of the electrical connections before you do anything else. If all connections are good then turn the key on and jump the starter and see what happens. If it starts then you have a bad ignitins switch.

Working on cars is some what new to me but i learn something new everyday. how do you jump the starter, if you dont mind explaining?

The big cable has a constant 12 volt power and the little wire is the signal wire to turn the starter on. By taking a wire or even a pair of pliers, you touch one to the other and the starter will spin. You can also get a remote starter switch at the auto parts store and hook it up so all you have to dois push a button and spin the starter.

ok did the starter jump with ign on, nothing! starter just spun! What should i check next? Also as far as electrical connections what should i look for? checked all the sensor and ign module everything looked good...

So far you know that the starter is able to spin the engine over. Does it spin when you use the ignition switch with the key?

Have you checked for spark as well?

No i dont hear nothing and i havent checked spark, let me check that now! if theres no spark what should i do?

Do you have a test light and a volt meter? I have a feeling I'll be PMing you my phone number to help you go through the testing.

ok. I have a volt meter but no test light and the only thing that I hear is the fuel pump. I already did the no start test from the sticky. Everything was good except the the "B" connection on the cam and crank sensor didn't hit 5volts but was close (4.9)! Is that ok? Also one of the connection on the camsensor that run to the module was loose but if I remember correctly the car still cranks when I had it disconnected.

This all occurred when I was fixing my a/c. I out the compressor and belts back on. Then I notice the cam cap was off the screws were broke. Not knowing the camsensor shouldn't move period it was loose. But it been like that for a while and I knew It was a problem with it because I was back firing. I start the car and hear a ticking, figured it was the belts then turned the ca off and didn't start since. So that's why I figured it was the cranksensor that was being hit and messed up.

I got the car to turn over it was the ign switch. Yet the car still wont start. Im not getting spark still. I did the test again and it looks like the problem is the igniton mod.

Here the results : Ecm volts-11.9v, ECM B-5 connection (crank)-.11v, A-11 connection (cam)- 1.8v, Cam sensor(module side) A-10.1v B-4.8v, Crank sensor (module side) A-10.1v B-4.7v

Hope you can understand it but what do you guys think? Ign Module?

Take the ignition modual off and have it tested. Any of the chain auto parts stores should be able to test it.

Ok I tried to have that did. Autozone didnt have nothing to test it. I'll try the others today

That's weird. They should have a tester for it. All of them are suposed to be equiped with the wells tester and the manual to go with it. Check the other parts places and I'm sure one of them will have it.

the guy probably didnt know what he was doing. only thing he said he could test was the ignition control module!

That really isn't a suprise to me. Most of the "parts guys" now are people that are told to sell everything they can, to get brownie points. No money and no brains involved. The computer knows all and sees all so the "parts guy" doesn't need any knowledge about cars to work there.

My old boss actually told a customer that if he used to heavy an oil it would wear the rings.
