I bought one of those seven position chips for an 84 85. When i install the chip it gives me problems. The problem is that the car dies when i take off at a dead stop. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and how i can fix it?

Do you have access to a scan tool?

Have you done the basic "spring cleaning" type tuning? Set the TPS, and the IAC, and got the right fuel pressure? Those things are more likely to cause the problem than a chip.

Every thing on the car is stock

Except for a spearco ic. Everything is stock I dont have an adj. fuel pressure reg. so i cant adj fuel. If i did get the pressure reg what pressure do you suggest i leave the car at?

40 to 43lbs with vac line off for fuel pressure.Does putting stock or another chip cure the stalling. What position are you at on thumb wheel?

Stock chip fine

It only does it with the casper. When i put in the stock chip the car runs fine. I had the setting on three and four.

Leave stock chip in car, upgrade fuel system...fuel pump, hotwire kit, injectors, gauge, fpr and scantool. These cars wherent good with fuel pressures in stock form let alone adding more hp.After you decide on injectors, which 50lbers are a safe bet,get a chip burnt for your new combo.Otherwise your going ruin your car.Good luck

I would give Caspers a simple phone call. They are local for me(Chicagoland area). Why go to the boards when you can go to the source? I am sure they can give you the answer you need. Brad
