How much horsepower/torque will I gain just by that single modification. How about 1/4 times also. Tenth's....

Going from a stock system (cat back) using a Hooker 2-1/2" mandral system usually increase your boost 2-3# by reducing the back pressure on the turbo.
Your turbo was already doing this work but you weren't getting the benefit from it.
Hope this makes sense.
Every pound of boost is worth about 10-13 HP
By reducing the back pressure, the turbo is more effective.
Can't say what the flowmaster will do.

i was thinking of geting one for my 84 gn because the cat back was like swiss cheese when i bought the car . but flowmaster only has the muffler and tailpipes for our cars and it costs $231.00 from jegs or summit.

flowmasters create back pressure, u dont want backpressure, u want a muffler you can see straight through.....

I think above all others Kenne Bell's single 3" Big Boy " exhaust creates the most improvment...........am I wrong?

I really like my ATR 2.5" dual exhaust. It's the best sounding I've heard yet. Ditch the cat, save it for smog only and run a test pipe in it's place. The mufflers are straight through but it's still pretty quiet.

I'm sure the flowmaster isn't as bad as everyone says. I've heard a GN with flowmasters and they sound awesome. They have to be better than the stock system. It's hard to guess what you will gain in power. If you're stock, probably 15-20hp. If you already have some basic mods and the boost turned up, probably more.

I have Borla Exhaust on my car with no cat, and it sounds great..but if i were to do it again, I would buy ATR's dual 3" cat back system. Its the sweetest thing I've ever seen, and will make a big difference if you replace the downpipe with a 3" one as well. I'd stay away from flowmasters because they are designed for naturally aspirated cars and create backpressure. On a turbo car, you pretty much want no back pressure, all the pressure you need is created between the headers and the turbo.

Make sure you go to a Y-pipe with the big mouth. You need another converter or test pipe for this.
