Ok. Fixed my center console light and light socket. (the ground is ok) Bulb still doesn't light. Traced the wiring back behind the dash, ending in a white female plug, just hanging there, behind the glove box, sort of towards the driver's side, with no home. No home in sight either. Any ideas?

Also, my trunk light doesn't light up. Where does that orange wire lead to?

A trick to fix it splice into the gray wire of the ashtray light bulb to get power for it when the lights are switched on. Even though console shifted TR's don't have the pull out ashtray the socket still sits under the radio. The gray wire in the radio harness can also be used since it switches on with the lights also.

?? My console shifted TR has a pull out ashtray. My shifter light is out also. Will fix this winter, maybe.........

Column shifter Regals (all) had a sliding lighted ashtray. Console shifted TR's did not have this but the light socket is still there. And can be used to provide 12v to repair the shifter light if needed with a simple splice.

Thanks :) I'll keep that in mind when I see why my light stopped working!

I pulled all my console stuff out and didn't see any extra sockets. All I know is, is that my light doesn't work, and the 2 wires leading out of the socket are grey and black, and there's a small white plug in the back of the radio with the same color wires going into it, and it's not pluggesd in anywhere :( Can't find a home for it.

You will have to pull the radio out to find it. The radio gray illumination wire (12v lights on) can also be used or the socket for the hvac controls will work also. The mating console plug is likely under the carpet or behind the heater outlet. Mine was missing the shifter light entire harness.

That is likely the wiring for the shifter light. The only other black/grey plug in that area is the light socket for the hvac controls.

I got the socket, where does the little black and grey wires leading from the socket end up? My bulb's in the socket and the ground's good to go, with zero corrosion anywhere in the system. I just think there's no power going to the socket. Where do my wires out of the socket lead to?
