Anything that keeps the heat inside the pipe is good. It helps the speed of the exhaust gases to exit easier, which translates to better spoolup, and it helps keep the under hood temps down.

Best thing out there for appearance, too, unless you want to go Blinb, Bling.
I have always liked the look of Ceramic coated headers & downpipe, even when they change color/dull slightly.
