What are the CFM rates for a TE-60 and a TA-61? What converter is recommended for each? Are 50# injectors enough for either one? Thanks.

In the only book I could find info on both of these turbos I found the TE-60 rated at 900 cfms, @600 hp, and blue tops to 009s. The TA-61 had the exact same ratings. Both called for a 2800 stall convertor. I found this info in "The Power Pac" performance and restoration tips book. It is copyrighted 1998 so I'm not sure if the info was updated between then and now. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Looks like my 50# injectors and 3,200 tc will work with either one.

Those injectors will work fine. I am still running my old 009s after upgrading from a TE-60 to a TE-63-1. I also had the engine rebuilt .030 over, ported heads with bigger valves and a Comp Cams 206/206. Even with all this and an ESP front mount I didn't see any knock with over 20 psi boost. This is with a Walbro 307, K-B boost-a-pump and SMC single nozzle alky kit. I do plan on turning the boost down to around 20 psi and running my K-B hot flash chip until I either get another chip from Turbotweak or upgrade my injectors and still get a TT chip. I'll try and do some more testing of boost/knock with my combo as my Scanmaster came unhooked in the middle of one of my test runs. I just put my Ramchargers dual fans in and now have to switch out the 180 thermostat the guy who built my engine put in for the new 160 I got with the fans.

Sounds like a nice combo you are putting together. How did you like the TE-60? Any track times with it and what combo did you have with it? Thanks.

Well, I only ran it once with the TE-60. I had all kinds of problems that night too. I ran a race chip (K-B hot flash) so I think the richness of the chip killed my spool-up. I couldn't launch with more than 3 psi. Then it would hold steady at 5 psi all the way through first and halfway through second. Then all of a sudden the boost would rise to what I had it set at. I ran from 19-21 psi on 93 octane with 5 gallons of Xylene. Needless to say with all these problems I was running consistent mid 9s to low 10s in the 1/8. My best was a mid 14 in the 1/4 and worst was a high 15. I realized the next day that I was letting off way too soon to make the first turn-off. I noticed this when I checked my timeslips and saw a 20 mph drop from the 1/8 to the 1/4. A former friend of mine was with me and laughed at my times but seeing all the problems I was having and even the huge mph drop from the 1/8 to the 1/4 I thought 14s to 15s was pretty good. I haven't been back with my new combo ( haven't even tuned it yet or got it on the road yet) but I may try it soon. My combo that night was:
Atr 14" cold air kit, TE-60, ESP f/m, 009s, ATR 3" d/p (no exhaust), Walbro 307 w/ boost-a-pump and K-B hot flash chip. I have since added a TE-63-1, rebuilt (.030 w/ forged pistons) engine with CC 206/206 cam and 980 springs, self-ported heads with 3 angle valve job and bigger stainless valves, power plate, SMC alky kit, Cotton's single shot exhaust and new tires and rims. If I can tune it for 11s in street trim then I'll be happy.
